How to Play Blackjack
Blackjack is one the most popular casino games. It’s just you versus the dealer, in a race to see who can get closer to 21. It’s an easy game to play, but a difficult one to master. Find out how to play blackjack on this page.
The Goal
The goal of blackjack is a simple one: get the total of your cards closer to 21 than the dealer, without ever going over that magical number. All cards are worth their face values. Jacks, Queens, and Kings are worth 10 points each. Aces can be worth 1 or 11 points.
How to Play Blackjack
Blackjack is perhaps the most complex of casino games, as it mixes skill and luck to create one of the most captivating casino games. Take a look below to see the basic gameplay of this casino staple.
- Cards are dealt. You receive two cards, as does the dealer. You’ll only be able to see one of the dealer’s cards.
- If you are dealt cards totalling 21, you’ll win straight away – unless the dealer also has the same. When this happens, you’ll win a prize worth 3 to 2.
- You can choose to receive another card or stick with what you’ve got. It’s also sometimes possible to split your cards, double down, or surrender.
- When your turn is finished, the dealer plays. Whether they draw extra cards depends on their total.
- Once the dealer has finished, you’ll see who has the highest hand. If it’s you, you’ll win a prize worth the same as your bet. You’ll also get your bet back.
There are, of course, other aspects to the game, which you can investigate once you become a more knowledgeable and skilled player.
